R.A. Dickey, the Mets’ ace who has the best pitching story through the season so far, will not start the All-Star Game, which, by the way, is tomorrow. Instead, Giants pitcher Matt Cain will get the start.
Dickey is having an unreal season – the 37-year-old knuckleballer has a 12-1 record with a 2.40 ERA, and a 0.93 WHIP. Opponents are hitting just .203 against him, and Dickey has 123 strikeouts and 26 walks.
But Cain’s also having a strong season. He’s 9-3, has a 2.62 ERA, and he tossed a perfect game earlier this season.
