Orioles DH Chris Davis ended up swinging for the fences three times in last night’s game against the Blue Jays. Cool, eh?
But I’m not finished yet… remember a game back in May between the O’s and the Red Sox that went to the 17th inning? Davis actually pitched two scoreless innings and picked up the win.
So that means that Davis is the third player in the majors since 1900 to homer thrice in one game and also pick up a win as a pitcher in the same season. Who were the only other two to do it? Babe Ruth did it back in 1930 and Jim Tobin did it in 1942.
