Things aren’t necessarily getting any better for the Red Sox… just one game after returning from an Achilles tendon injury, David Ortiz has been put back on the disabled list.
In that one game, Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a double, but he aggravated the Achilles tendon injury and said afterwards that he “can’t really play like this.”
Ortiz is having one of his best seasons of his career at age 36. He’s hitting .318 with 23 home runs, and he’s also leading the league with a .611 slugging percentage and a 1.026 OPS.
