The Blue Jays have announced that slugger Jose Bautista will need surgery on his left wrist and will therefore be out the rest of the season.
Bautista hit 43 homers last year and 54 the year before, but injuries put his numbers closer to what they were before his breakout season in 2010 – a .241 average, 27 home-runs, and a .886 OPS.
