Cincinnati native and Reds icon Barry Larkin was honored today as his number 11 was retired before the Reds’ game against the Cardinals. Larkin wore the number 11 all throughout his major league career. In fact, his entire major league career was spent with the Reds.
This comes after Larkin was inducted into the Hall of Fame back on June 24th.
Among some (but certainly not all) of Larkin’s accomplishments and awards was being a 12-time All-Star, a World Series champion for the 1990 Reds, the 1995 NL MVP winner, a nine-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a three-time Gold Glove Award winner.
