Dodgers left fielder Jerry Hairston Jr. had the baseball slip out of his hand while fielding a ball hit by Chris Young during Tuesday night’s game against the Diamondbacks, and his throw was probably the worst an outfielder has ever made.
In the top of the ninth inning, Young hit a ball down the line near the left field stands. Hairston ran it down but lost his grip on the ball. Because of this, the ball slipped out of his hand and went backwards into the glove of a young Dodgers fan.
Young’s hit probably would’ve been a double, but he was awarded third base on the error.
Of course the play led a three-run rally for the D-backs. They ended up beating the Dodgers 8-2.
