The Giants have defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-4 to advance to the NLCS. Matt Cain was the winning pitcher and Sergio Romo sealed the save for the Giants.
The Giants got out to a 6-0 lead, scoring all six runs in the fifth inning. Four of them came off of a Buster Posey grand slam.
However, the Reds scored twice in the fifth, once in the sixth, and once more in the ninth, but that wasn’t enough to push them into the NLCS.
Cincinnati is actually the first team to lose three consecutive home games after having a 2-0 lead in the NLDS.
