Hideki Matsui announced today that he is retiring and will hold a press conference tonight to make it official. It’s not really a surprise that Godzilla’s retiring, but it’s still sad to see him go.
In his ten year MLB career, most of which was spent with the Yankees, Matsui hit .282 with 175 home runs and 760 RBI. He was also the 2009 World Series MVP with the Yanks.
Before he came over to America to play ball, Matsui played with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan from 1993-2002.
‘Twas fun watching you, Godzilla.
